Sheppard Subway

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Sheppard Subway (Line 4) is a 5.5km long subway line along Sheppard Avenue from Yonge Street to Don Mills in Toronto. Construction of the subway began in 1994 and consists of 5 stations. Both tunneling and cut and cover methods of construction were used to construct the line.

INSITU’S INVOLVEMENT

INSITU’s involvement started in 1995 on the tunnel works and several of the stations. INSITU completed the dewatering works at the following locations.

  • Twin Tunnels
  • Sheppard / Yonge Station
  • Bayview Station
  • Leslie Station
  • Don Mills Station

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

  • First large scale project completed by INSITU Contractors
  • Successful completion of technically challenging work where excavation and dewatering works were required in limited area and next to existing structures and roadways
  • Development of INSITU equipment to increase reliability and efficiency
